Accomplishments?

Throughout this blog, every post will have information and tips for the people that are willing to go to "Health". It teaches what total wellness is, how to accomplish physical wellness, and the difference between fitness and health. This is my first article, on the topic of total wellness:

Without total wellness, building your life into the life you want to have is just as hopeless as building the empire state building on quicksand. Student Health and Counseling Services says, “Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth.”(UC Davis 1) Total Wellness is essentially the foundation and set up for a life that you are happy and satisfied with. There are four main areas in Total Wellness: Social, Physical, Mental, and Emotional.

File:Handshake logo.svg - Wikimedia Commons Social Wellness means to have a healthy relationship with our fellow beings within our lives. By keeping a steady and healthy relationship with other people, we can continually find ways to improve ourselves, help others, and gain a better reputation. For example, let’s say that you’re trying to get a job. For that job, you may need recommendations, and if you had social wellness throughout your life, you would have a whole stack of recommendations. However, if you just sat on your phone your whole life playing video games or communicating with other people online, it will be very difficult to get those recommendations. Of course, Social wellness doesn’t just help with job applications. Gaining ties and relationships with other people can simply help us be happy and have joy in our lives, a kind of joy that doesn’t come from video games. Technology over the years has become both an aid and an enemy to social wellness. Thanks to technology, we can now communicate and talk to a lot more people than we would be able to in the 19th century, which means we have a much bigger social outreach, which can be very useful and fulfilling. However, sometimes technology takes us away from the people that matter most, and those are the people around us. During Quarantine, we have an opportunity to get to know our families a little better, and that above all is the most important thing.
Physical wellness is often the first thing that comes to mind when we think of total wellness. For as long as humans have been around, keeping our bodies physically fit and healthy has always been known to be, well, healthy. It’s always a good thing to make sure we’re keeping our bodies physically active. Even going on a walk or doing 20 pushups a day can help us sustain our physical condition. However, physical health and wellness is more than just exercise; we need to make sure that we eat healthy things every day so our bodies can get the nutrients they need. It’s also important to make sure that we’re not consuming anything that is harming our bodies, and although junk food isn’t a very healthy diet, I’m talking more about drugs. Drugs destroy our bodies, so if we want to have physical wellness, drugs never, ever help. If you or someone else you know is having problems with drugs, I suggest getting professional help to do what you need to do to stop.

Our brain is the most important organ in our bodies, so it needs to be kept healthy and growing in order for us to function properly. Even as much as reading one or two chapters of a book every day can help keep our brains active. Keeping up with schoolwork is also a great way to grow and stretch your brain, and because the four categories of wellness interconnect with each other, physical activity can get the blood flowing and help refresh and stimulate your brain. Try to learn new things every day in order to keep your brain active.

Animals or can communicate with others, be physically well, and keep their minds active, but we as humans have particular emotions that affect who we are and who we’ll become. We often go through stressful or sad situations and events, but those things don’t define our emotional wellness; it’s how we pull through those situations that form our emotional wellness. When we go through tough times, whether it be a stressful assignment, a family member dying, or not getting a job you wanted, we can always do things to calm ourselves down and gain emotional wellness. Take a few deep breaths, count to ten, and remember that not everything is in your control and you can get through any challenges that life throws at you, even if it’s a little hard. Calm yourself down and remember that after all those tough times, life goes on, and it’s not the end of the world.
